What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a conversation with the subconcious part of the brain where all of the old programming called habits and learned actions reside.   When we remember your birthday, or any event in your past, you are accessing the subconcious part of the brain.   It is here that everything is stored for long term storage since the concious part of the brain goes to sleep every night, and the subconcious reloads it in the morning when we reach for the alarm clock, or wake up from the sun streaming into the bedroom and landing on our face.

Have you ever driven home, pulled into the driveway, and not remembered the roads and turns you made on the way home?    This is a mild form of hypnosis, called highway hypnosis, where the concious side of the brain tends to let the subconcious take over, because this is only the hundreth time or more that we have driven this same road, with the same traffic, and the same surroundings.  This also happens when you are watching TV, and you are so tuned into the actions on the TV, that you don’t hear what is going on around you. Just about everyone has had this happen at one time or another, so everyone has experienced hypnosis.
